Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi previously touched on Danantara’s involvement in the GoTo-Grab merger process.
However, Prasetyo has not detailed the role of the BUMN management. As a reminder, Telkom and its subsidiary, PT Telekomunikasi Selular Indonesia (Telkomsel), invested around IDR 6.4 trillion to own GoTo shares.
“Danantara is also involved there because there is a corporate process that is also part of what is being discussed. That’s why I ask for patience first,” said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, last Friday (7/11).
Plans by Grab Holdings Ltd, a Singapore-based technology company, to acquire PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk have been emerging for some time.
Reuters
reported Grab is seeking to reach an agreement to acquire GoTo in the second quarter of this year.
However, last June, it was reported that the merger plan had encountered regulatory obstacles from the Indonesian government.
Three Reuters sources familiar with the process said these regulatory obstacles created uncertainty over the continuation of a potential merger between two large companies in the transportation and food delivery services sector in Southeast Asia.
The Indonesian government is said to have proposed a number of requirements so that this merger plan can proceed.
