Dasco said the MKD decision would be followed up by the DPR Secretariat General (Setjen).Later, the decision will take effect during the next recess.
The Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party DPP revealed that the MKD decision was a matter without complaint. This decision was taken based on the dynamics developing in society regarding recess funds.
“MKD is examining cases without complaints because of the developing dynamics in society regarding recess funds,” he said.
According to him, MKD considered the cuts to be made because of the effectiveness of the council members’ recess. So, the number of points is now reduced to 22 from the original 26 points.
“One of the considerations, I saw yesterday, was the effectiveness of the points in the electoral district. So the MKD decided to cut the number of points to only 22 points,” he said.
A recess is a period when DPR members do not carry out session activities at the parliament complex.Instead, they will return to their electoral district to absorb the aspirations of the community and provide social service (baksos).
In total there are 84 electoral districts throughout Indonesia represented by 580 DPR members.Recesses are usually held between 4-5 times a year and the funds will be received during each recess period.
As of May 2025, recess funds for DPR members will increase by IDR 702 million from IDR 400 million in the 2019-2024 period.Dasco said the increase was due to the increase in components, activities and the number of visiting points for DPR members.
Recently, there is a plan to increase it again as of August 2025, from IDR 702 million to IDR 756 million or an increase of IDR 54 million. However, continued Dasco, the increase had been canceled due to the wave of demonstrations from 25-31 August.
Now, through the MKD decision, the figure will thus fall again to around IDR 500 million.
