In a span of two hours, a number of Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks. They were in cars, in shelters, and in the remains of their homes.
It is a reminder that the Israeli army’s violence has never ended despite a six-week US-brokered ceasefire.
Meanwhile the Israeli military said it had killed or captured more than a dozen Palestinian gunmen trapped in a tunnel under the city of Rafah.
“Moments ago, forces operating in eastern Rafah discovered and captured an additional terrorist who was attempting to escape from the underground terror infrastructure in the Rafah region,” the military said in a statement, quoted from

“At the end of a 24-hour manhunt, the 17 terrorists who attempted to escape from the underground terror infrastructure in eastern Rafah were successfully eliminated or captured,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
The army “remains deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to eliminate any threats, dismantle terror infrastructure and defend itself in the region”, he added.
Israel and Hamas agreed to a US-mediated ceasefire that took effect last October, after more than two years of war.
On Wednesday, Gaza experienced one of its deadliest days since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect, with officials reporting 27 fatalities.
According to the health ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza on Thursday, 312 Palestinians had been killed by the Israeli military since the ceasefire came into force.
The war was sparked by Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of 1,221 people.
Israel’s counterattack on Gaza has killed at least 69,733 people, according to data from the Health Ministry that the UN considers reliable.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office accused Hamas of violating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Saturday.
“Today, Hamas again violated the ceasefire, sending a terrorist into Israeli-controlled territory to attack IDF soldiers. In response, Israel eliminated five senior Hamas terrorists,” Netanyahu’s Office said in X, referring to the territory behind the Yellow Line in Gaza, which Israeli forces have withdrawn from.
“Israel has fully respected the ceasefire, Hamas has not… We again call on the mediators to urge Hamas to fulfill its obligations in the ceasefire,” he said.
Both sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire, which took effect on October 10.
The Israeli military said an “armed terrorist” had crossed the so-called Yellow Line border in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli troops have withdrawn, and opened fire on soldiers, in a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement”.
