“As of today, from our data, the general death toll from the recapitulation of 3 provinces shows 1,006 people,” said Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center Abdul Muhari in a press conference on BNPB’s YouTube.
In detail, there were 415 deaths in Aceh, 349 in North Sumatra, and 242 in West Sumatra.
“This change occurred in Aceh from 411 to 415 people who died. North Sumatra from 343 to 349 and West Sumatra from 241 to 242 people,” he said.
Meanwhile, there were 217 missing victims, a decrease from 226 people the previous day.
Then the number of refugees was recorded at 654,642 people, a decrease of 199,508 people from December 12 of 884,889 people.
“This has decreased, after verifying the data based on dukcapil data and also identifying the bodies of the victims, there were several victims who were or had died but were buried in the cemetery area which was then affected by the landslide. We have identified these and removed them from the landslide victims,” he said.
Meanwhile, for handling logistics, national roads and bridges are still in the process of being repaired so that aid distribution is still based on air routes.
“Currently the air route is still dominant, we hope that early next week we will be able to optimize the land route which will automatically increase the tonnage of aid in terms of delivery,” he said.
