Three novels

will be adapted into a series.The series of novels that will be able to be seen on the small screen are Rapijali, Perahu Kertas, and Aroma Karsa with the involvement of a number of production houses.
The adaptation plan was announced in the Netflix Creative Asia SEA session at the Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) on Tuesday (2/12).

“I always believe that stories have the longest echo in the human journey, and telling stories is our essence as humans,” said Dee Lestari in a written statement.
“These three novels have been with Indonesian readers for years and even longer with me, so this project is a big dream come true.”

The three novels will be worked on by different production houses to become Netflix original series.Rapijali was produced by Starvision, Perahu Kertas by Visinema, and Aroma Karsa by Screenplay Films and Forka Films.
Rapijali is directed by Sabrina Rochelle Kalangie, who is known as the director and scriptwriter of the films Too Handsome, Noktah Merah Perkawinan, and Home Sweet Loan.The film is now entering the production stage.
“I feel really lucky to have the opportunity to adapt Rapijali into a new medium. This story about growing up is centered on music, which makes the story very lively and interesting,” said Sabrina Rochelle.
“The process of developing this story and recreating every element and character, as well as realizing the universe of this story, was something that was both very challenging and exhilarating for me.”
Rapijali tells the story of Ping, a girl with extraordinary musical talent who moves from the village to Jakarta.In Jakarta, he met friends and formed a band called Rapijali, which faced family, love and political conflicts.
Meanwhile Perahu Kertas and Aroma Karsa are currently in the creative development stage.
Perahu Kertas tells the story of two friends, Kugy and Keenan, who are pursuing their respective dreams, namely becoming a fairy tale writer and a painter.However, they face various obstacles and personal conflicts.
Aroma Karsa will be directed by Kamila Andini, who later admitted that the book influenced her previous work, namely Kretek Girl, because it left a deep impression.
“Without me realizing it, the book inspired me to create visual sensory elements in Kretek Girl. For me, Aroma Karsa is an epic love story in the world and the sense of aroma which then becomes a journey full of magic,” said Kamila Andini.
“This will be my first fantasy story, something that challenges me to depict real elements in this story, both visible and invisible. This will be the most imaginative adventure in my creative process,” he explained.
Aroma Karsa tells the story of Jati Wesi, a young man with an extraordinary sense of smell who lives in the Bantar Gebang landfill.He then became involved in Raras Prayagung’s obsession with finding Puspa Karsa, a legendary flower with a very strong aroma.
There is no information regarding the broadcast target for the television series.
