Indonesian Trade Union Alliance Congress Mass (
KASBI
) carrying a large octopus doll during a demonstration in front of the DPR Building, Jakarta, Thursday (6/11).
KASBI Chairman Sunarno said the octopus that was brought was a symbol of corruption cases in Indonesia which are increasingly rampant.
“Corruption officials and elites are increasing, not decreasing,” said Sunarno in his speech in front of the DPR fence, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta.

Apart from taking turns giving speeches conveying their demands, the mass of workers also performed the Jaipong Dance.The dance was performed by KASBI workers from Subang.
Mass representatives hearing with the DPR
When this news was written, a number of labor representatives were entering the parliament building to have an audience with members of the DPR.
The results of the workers’ mass hearing with the DPR are not yet known.
This action carries 10 demands of the mass workers from KASBI.
The first is to demand that the government pass the Pro-Labor Employment Law.
Then urge the government to implement a national living wage and increase wages in 2026 by at least 15 percent, abolish the contract work system, outsourcing labor (
outsourcing
), exploitative apprenticeships, and fake ojol partnerships.
Then, protect female workers and immediately ratify International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention 190, workers also demand the provision of child care (
day care
) cheap and high quality, as well as a lactation room.
They also asked the government to guarantee the rights of plantation, agricultural, mining, education and health workers.
“Seven, protect migrant workers and fisheries workers and ratify ILO Convention 188. Lower the prices of basic necessities, fuel, TDL and toll rates. Stop repression and criminalization of people’s movements, release all prisoners of action. Stop war, economic blockade and genocide, support Palestinian independence,” said Sunarno in an oration reading out 10 workers’ demands in front of the people’s representative building.
