“Improvements in the field of recruitment are the most important, if for example good recruits are well educated, it will produce good police officers. These patterns are being implemented by the HR [Human Resources] assistant, with us also collaborating with external parties to be directly involved in controlling how the recruitment process runs well,” he said.
He also admitted that the National Police Headquarters was working on steps that could expand access to educational scholarships from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) for all levels of National Police members.
“Then by increasing our capacity, we also made improvements to the LPDP program which was previously only for National Police officers. In 2025, the Chief of Police ordered us to expand the LPDP. So starting with non-commissioned officers, ASN, officers, paramen, we will also be given the same opportunity for the LPDP in order to increase capacity, capability and competence,” he said.
The performance of the district police chiefs is below performance
During the meeting, the three-star general then explained the poor performance of the police chiefs and police chiefs so far and the causes.Dedi said that one of the problems currently being faced by the police is that the Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate is not working well.

.”This is a note from us, we have to make improvements, the same goes for Reskrim [Criminal Investigation],” said Dedi.
“Of the 47 Directorates of Criminal Investigation who have

.”We must make these changes immediately. We have already made improvements in terms of meritocracy, education and so on,” he continued.
Although Polri reform has been around since post-1998 reform, the demands have become even greater after the wave of demonstrations in August 2025 in Indonesia.During this wave of demonstrations, there was a number of violence by the police during their security, including the fatal tragedy of a Brimob tactical vehicle (rantis) which was involved in a fatal accident with an online motorcycle taxi driver, Affan Kurniawan.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo formed a National Police reform transformation team led by Commissioner General of Police Chryshnanda Dwilaksana last September.
Apart from that, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also formed the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission at the beginning of November. The commission is led by two former Chief Justices of the Constitutional Court, namely Jimly Asshidique as chairman and Mahfud MD as deputy chairman.
The team formed by Prabowo also involved three former National Police Chiefs, as well as National Police Chief Listyo as its members.
