“Thank God, no one died,” said Lodewijk after directly inspecting the situation at SMA 72 on Friday afternoon.

The explosion occurred inside the SMA 72 mosque after the Friday prayer sermon.Lodewijk said there were two explosions.Based on information from Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri, the victims of the SMA 72 explosion reached 54 people.
“There was an explosion inside. What is clear is that at 12.15, at the SMA 72 mosque or prayer room, there was an explosion, and there were two explosions. The first was at the back, the second was near the prayer room or mosque door,” said Lodewijk.
Regarding the discovery of weapons at the scene of the incident which went viral on social media, Lodewijk confirmed that the weapons were toy weapons.
“There was a picture, but it turned out to be a toy weapon, not a real weapon. After we checked it was a toy weapon. Meanwhile, the forensic team was still working on the explosion, whether it was an explosion or what,” said Lodewijk.
Lodewijk further asked all parties not to jump to conclusions too quickly regarding the explosion incident at SMA 72 being an act of terrorism.Lodewijk said let the relevant authorities work first.
“Don’t worry too much, his name is still being investigated. Don’t say this, jumping to the conclusion that this is a terrorist act. We haven’t gotten there yet. So let the authorities work first. In turn, the findings will of course be conveyed to all media partners. So we’ll just have to wait,” said Lodewijk.
