He asked the National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team to speed up the identification process considering that the body had been in condition for more than a week.
“This identification must be carried out as soon as possible. Because it’s a pity, if for example the victim is taking too long. This will become worse and worse in the future,” he said in a written statement, Friday (5/12).

He explained that the fastest identification process can be done through fingerprint examination with an accuracy rate of up to 99 percent.Apart from that, matching can also be determined through antemortem postmortem data.
Meanwhile, he said, for victims whose fingerprints cannot be matched, the DNA checking option is the last resort that can be taken.
Therefore, Dedi requested that the victims’ DNA samples be sent to the DVI Laboratory in Jakarta to reduce identification time.
“We have a fairly fast DNA Lab in Jakarta. Maybe within three days the DNA test can be sent directly to the family. So that the bodies in all the National Police hospitals can be handed over and buried immediately,” he explained.
Furthermore, he also ordered the DVI team which is currently at the location to be able to ‘pick up the ball’ to the location points and not just wait at the Police Hospital.
According to him, this must be done so that the identification process does not take too long.Bearing in mind, he said, land access has not yet been fully restored so it will take a long time if identification must be carried out at the hospital.
“So don’t have to wait here for a long time if the journey from Agam to here takes time. Our DVI team should be able to immediately identify the body from a volunteer or our team, we can immediately identify it,” he said.
