Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII DPR from the Gerindra faction, Sugiat Santoso, asked
government
ensure that transfer funds to regions (TKD) for flood-affected areas in Sumatra and Aceh do not experience cuts.
According to Sugiat, the government actually needs to strengthen budget support so that the post-disaster recovery process can run optimally.
“I hope that in the context of regions whose status is considered disaster areas, regional financial transfers will not be reduced,” said Sugiat at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/12).

He assessed that, even under normal conditions, TKD allocations often do not meet basic regional needs. Therefore, in an emergency situation like now, the regional financial burden is certain to become even heavier.
The affected areas, said Sugiat, must repair various public facilities damaged by flash floods and landslides.
“This is normal, they are in very poor condition now. Especially with the disaster,” he said.
Sugiat named North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh as the regions with the largest budget needs to restore infrastructure.According to him, the damage caused included hundreds of broken bridges and other public facilities.
“This needs to be handled from the center. It is impossible for districts/cities or provinces to rebuild independently because they don’t have a budget, especially if TKD is reduced,” he said.
Therefore, he reminded the Ministry of Finance not to cut TKD for regions that are facing an emergency situation.Sugiat even pushed for an increase in the budget.
“I hope that the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, for disaster areas, regional financial transfers will be fulfilled 100 percent, even if necessary, it will be increased,” he said.
