Referee Thomas Bramall then gave the second yellow card and the 23 -year -old striker got a red card.Ekitice had received the first yellow card in the 53rd minute.
Through his Instagram account, Ekitice revealed an apology. The former Paris Saint-Germain player claimed to feel emotional because he scored Liverpool’s winning goal.
“I am very excited tonight to help the team win again at home in my first Carabao Cup match. My emotions are overflowing tonight.”
“I apologize to the whole Reds family. Thank you to fans who always support me and to my team-mates who have secured this victory,” Ekitice added.
Liverpool coach Arne Slot criticized Ekitice for not being able to control his emotions. The Dutch coach called the acts of stupid eciture.
“The first yellow card is no longer necessary. It is a stupid [celebration] even if he hasn’t got the first yellow card. I am an old -fashioned person, but if we pass three players and score a goal into the corner of the goal, he can make everything ‘this about me’.”
“But if I score a goal like him, I will go to Federico Chiesa and say, ‘This is all about you’. It’s stupid, not smart. He is now suspended for Saturday and it’s far from ideal,” said Slot.
