Elderly Kiai Will Gather in Lirboyo to Discuss PBNU Chaos

, Kediri, East Java, to discuss the ongoing polemic within the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia.
“God willing, a wider meeting will be held later, featuring senior (more senior) kiai and leadership elements within NU, where the host will be the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri,” he said at the PBNU Head Office, Central Jakarta, Sunday (23/11) evening.
However, Yahya said PBNU had not agreed on a definite date for the meeting.

“But an agreement between the kiai has been reached, and a meeting will be held soon. Hopefully this can open a way out of the current problem,” he said.
Yahya emphasized that as an organization, NU has a clear system of rules or constitution.
“So statements or articulations, whether verbal or written from anyone, must all be measured by the rules and regulations that exist in the organization’s constitutional system,” he said.
At the gathering which was attended by around 50 kiai from various regions from East Java, Central Java, West Java to North Sumatra, Yahya said that the ulama regretted what happened at the daily Syuriah meeting along with the results of their minutes urging him to step down from the position of General Chair of PBNU.
“Everyone wants everything that is a problem in the organization to be returned to the Articles of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART) to be returned to the existing regulatory system and even though there are shortcomings, the obstacles must be resolved together without developing conflict between the existing leadership,” he explained.
The minutes of PBNU’s daily Syuriah meeting are widely circulating and are being discussed by netizens on social media.The minutes contained the decision of Rais Aam and Deputy Rais Aam of PBNU to ask Yahya Cholil Staquf to resign from the position of General Chair of PBNU.
The Daily Syariah Meeting was held in Jakarta, Thursday (20/11), which was attended by 37 of the 53 PBNU daily Syariah administrators.The minutes of the meeting were signed by the chairman of the meeting and Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar.
Yahya clarified that until now he had not received any form of official letter regarding the internal issues circulating.
Meanwhile, PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf also called on all NU administrators at all levels, from PBNU, PWNU, PCNU, MWCNU to NU Branches to remain calm and maintain a conducive atmosphere in responding to the dynamics currently occurring within the organization.
