In the report, England fans reportedly had to pay £164 or the equivalent of Rp. 3.6 million for the matches against Ghana and Panama for the cheapest tickets.
Meanwhile, the cheapest ticket for the opening match against Croatia which is in ‘category 3’ has a price tag of 197 pounds sterling.
If they want to watch in a better class stadium the match against Croatia, England fans need to pay a ticket of up to 521 pounds sterling (Rp. 11.6 million) for ‘category 1’, and 372 pounds sterling for ‘category 2’.
More expensive tickets will also need to be purchased if the Three Lions qualify for the quarter-finals.Prices reach 507 pounds sterling, 756 pounds sterling and 1,073 pounds sterling for categories 1, 2 and 3.
However, the location of the quarter-finals will not be known until England progress to the knockout stages.Supporters can get a ‘worse’ price if Thomas Tuchel’s team passes to the semifinals and plays in Atlanta or Dallas.
If you qualify for the semifinals, the minimum price you need to pay is 686 pounds sterling, and the highest ticket price in the semifinals can be three times that, namely 2,364 pounds sterling.
With the increase in ticket prices considered ‘outrageous’, England fans who usually watch away matches are planning to boycott the 2026 World Cup.
“Never missed a home game for 8 years, have watched 9 away games in a row. Wouldn’t even think about going to the United States,” said the account @simonryder11 on X.
“Just like many other people have said,” the account @Tommy_Odlham1 replied.
England fans’ anger was unstoppable on social media after seeing the 2026 World Cup ticket price increase which was considered unreasonable.
“Absolutely unreasonable prices. When even regular fans refuse tickets, you know it’s bad. Absolutely embarrassing!” said @bowbrookshrew.
The England national team’s away supporters’ forum, Free Lions, also commented on the situation.
“We have been concerned about ticket prices for participating countries for months and have raised these concerns with our European Football Supporters’ Group and the English Football Association,” the Free Lions said.
“The initial trend is worrying and it is very sad to see those concerns come true with the announcement of England’s ticket prices for the World Cup.”
Several reports from international media also state that ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup have risen drastically compared to prices for previous tournaments.
