PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir said Nova Arianto and the players
U-17 Indonesian National Team
will be the framework for the U-20 Indonesian National Team.
A group of players, officials and coaching staff of the U-17 Indonesian National Team arrived in Jakarta on Thursday (13/11), after competing in the U-17 World Cup.
Menpora and General Chair of PSSI Erick Thohir welcomed the arrival of the U-17 Indonesian National Team.Apart from Erick, the Indonesian Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas was also present.

“Welcome to Indonesia to all players, coaches and officials of the U-17 Indonesian National Team who have just finished fighting in the World Cup. Thank you Minister of Law – Mr. Supratman Andi Agtas who was also present to welcome the U-17 National Team,” said Erick.
“You have fought extraordinarily and made history by winning Indonesia’s first victory in the World Cup. Proud, but the journey is still long and it is not time to be complacent,” added Erick.
On this occasion, Erick Thohir said that Nova Arianto and the U-17 Indonesian National Team squad would move up to become the framework for the U-20 Indonesian National Team.
“Coach Nova and the U-17 National Team players will be the framework for the U-20 National Team. We will prepare the U-20 National Team to be able to penetrate the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup,” said Erick, quoted from his personal Instagram, on Thursday (13/11).

The U-17 Indonesian National Team’s progress has certainly stopped in the group phase after finishing in third place in Group H with a score of three points.
During their appearance at the 2025 U-17 World Cup, the U-17 Indonesian National Team won three points in the three matches played in Group H.
Indonesia’s only victory was recorded after beating Honduras 2-1 in the final match of Group H.
In the first match Indonesia lost 1-3 to Zambia.Then the team coached by Nova Arianto was beaten by Brazil 0-4.
Even though they were eliminated from the 2025 U-17 World Cup, the U-17 Indonesian National Team made history by winning their first victory in the U-17 World Cup tournament.
