, intends to increase priority sports to 21 compared to the previous 17 sports.
Currently four additional sports are entering the discussion stage with related parties.Meanwhile, the 17 branches that have been prioritized are athletics, archery, cycling, rowing, gymnastics, weightlifting, badminton, taekwondo, karate, wushu, rock climbing, shooting, pencak silat, swimming, football, basketball and volleyball.
“Because with the direction and agreement that we have started to discuss, we will focus on 21 leading sports. And we will revise the DBON [National Sports Grand Design],” said Erick in Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12).

“Yes, for sports that haven’t entered 21, there is promotion and relegation. So all sports will not, for example, because they have entered 21, don’t worry. No, this exists. When other sports can provide more achievements than those in 21,” he added.
One of the events that is used as a benchmark for promotion and relegation is the 2025 SEA Games. There are 48 sports being participated in by the Indonesian contingent from the 51 sports being contested.
Erick hopes that all serious sports will donate medals to fight for the nation’s dignity at the 2025 SEA Games. Erick also gave an ultimatum to sports that are not serious at the SEA Games later.
“I ask all serious sports to bring medals. This event must also be an evaluation. So if it doesn’t meet the target, we will have a relegation promotion,” he said.
“So there is promotion and relegation at DBON so that we are both serious about developing our sport,” added Erick.
By dispatching 996 athletes and targeting 80 gold medals to occupy the top three medal standings at the 2025 SEA Games, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has budgeted IDR 66 billion.
