Even though the results were not as expected, Erick Thohir still expressed his appreciation for Garuda Asia’s struggle.
“Not the desired result, but the Indonesian U-17 National Team fought as hard as they could against Zambia in the first match of the 2025 U-17 World Cup. After winning first, the U-17 National Team had to lose to Zambia with a final score of 3-1,” said Erick Thohir in a post on Instagram.
Erick, who also serves as Minister of Youth and Sports, hopes that Nova Arianto’s team can recover for the next two matches.
Next, the U-17 national team will face a strong Brazilian team on Friday (7/11) and the final match will be against Honduras, Tuesday (10/11).
“There are still two group phase matches against Brazil and Honduras. We must be able to recover,” said Erick.
“Come on, cheer up Young Garuda!”
After losing points on the first matchday of the 2025 U-17 World Cup, the U-17 National Team is now in third place in Group H of the 2025 U-17 World Cup, behind Brazil and Zambia.
