gave a firm message when confirming the Indonesian contingent for
SEA Games 2025
at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Senayan, Friday (5/12).
As soon as he was given the mandate to give a speech, Erick asked the athletes present to look back.A moment later this 55 year old man asked them to look ahead.
“To the athletes, try looking back first, try. What’s there? Now look forward. That’s the past,” said Erick, starting his oration in front of athletes from various sports.

“So, we have to look at the future. The future is where our nation should stand. We should stand as a great nation,” he stressed.
The man who has only served as Menpora since September 17 2025 advised athletes to fight hard while in Thailand for the honor and dignity of the nation, as well as each individual.
“This SEA Games is the start of our evaluation together. That’s why we are sending everything we can to go to Thailand,” said Erick, who was wearing a white uniform.
“In the future, we will work on how we can continue to create history. New history for Indonesian sports,” he said while alluding to President Prabowo Subianto’s message.
Not to forget, Erick asked the athletes what their respective targets were in the 2025 SEA Games. After gold and silver, no athlete admitted to setting a bronze target.
“Who’s target here is gold? Who’s target is silver? Bronze? Nothing, right? What does that mean? We have to try our best. Whatever our target is today, we have to try our best.”
“Because of that, we will go to the palace. Together we pledge to our nation and state, to our leaders, that we will give our best for the honor of the nation,” said Erick.
