, lost while defending Go Ahead Eagles against Lyon in the 2025/2026 Europa League in a ‘crazy’ match marked by three goals in the first 11 minutes.
Go Ahead Eagles lost 1-2 to Lyon in the 2025/2026 Europa League match at Grupama Stadium, Lyon, on Friday (12/12) early morning WIB.
Dean James appeared fully throughout the match by occupying the left back position in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

This match was exciting from the early minutes with three goals scored in the first 11 minutes of play.
When the match had only been running for 2 minutes and 30 seconds, Lyon managed to tear Go Ahead Eagles’ goal through a game of one or two touches which was completed by Afonso Moreira thanks to Martin Satriano’s pass.
This goal really surprised Go Ahead Eagles who were just looking to develop the game.
However, on the other hand, Lyon’s quick goal also stung the enthusiasm of the Go Ahead Eagles players to score a goal back in the sixth minute through Milan Smit after continuing Melle Meulensteen’s pass.
But in the 11th minute, Lyon managed to regain the lead through Pavel Sulc’s goal after taking advantage of a rebound that was blocked by the Go Ahead Eagles goalkeeper.
Until the match ended, no additional goals had been scored, although Lyon had a golden opportunity through Corentin Tolisson’s shot which hit the crossbar in the 89th minute.
This result makes Lyon firmly at the top of the Europa League standings by collecting 15 points from the six matches played.
Meanwhile, this defeat leaves Go Ahead Eagles in 27th position in the standings with six points from the six matches they have played.
