The letter was published by Mirwan on November 27 with number 360/1315/2025.Then on December 2, Mirwan actually went for Umrah with his family while there were still residents in the Trumon area taking refuge in refugee camps.
The following are facts about the Regent of South Aceh performing Umrah during floods and landslides in the area.
1. Criticized by residents
One of the residents of South Aceh, Nasrol, said that even though the flood waters had receded, there were still people who had been displaced until now.
“The water has receded. But there are still refugees, although not as many as at the beginning,” Nasrol told reporters, Friday (5/12).
2. Officials claim South Aceh is stable
Head of Protocol and Communications for the South Aceh Leadership, Denny Saputra, said that Mirwan left after conditions in South Aceh improved from the flood disaster.
“The departure of the Regent of South Aceh and his wife for the Umrah pilgrimage to the holy land was of course after seeing the situation and condition of the South Aceh region which was generally stable, especially the water flow which had receded in residential areas in the Bakongan Raya and Trumon Raya areas,” said Denny when confirmed.
3. It is claimed that the Regent has inspected the location
Denny also denied that Mirwan abandoned the people in the midst of a disaster.According to him, the regent of South Aceh visited and sent aid to residents affected by the flood.
“Before leaving, the Regent and his wife visited and visited several affected locations several times, such as the Trumon Raya and Bakongan Raya areas, and even went directly to deliver logistics to the affected areas,” said Denny.
4. The Aceh Governor refused the Umrah permit
South Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf alias Mualem had previously refused and did not grant Mirwan’s wish to perform Umrah during the flood.
The request for permission to travel abroad was submitted by the Regent of South Aceh to Mualem on November 24 2025. However, he did not grant it because at that time Aceh was being hit by a hydrometeorological natural disaster.
“The Governor has submitted a written reply that the request cannot be granted or rejected,” said Aceh Government Spokesperson, Muhammad MTA, Friday (5/12).
Mualem assesses that South Aceh Regency is one of the areas seriously affected by floods and landslides. The Regent himself has declared an emergency response status for handling flood and landslide disasters in South Aceh Regency.
5. Removed from the position of Chairman of DPC Gerindra
Gerindra Party Secretary General Sugiono admitted that he had received a report about Mirwan’s departure to the Holy Land in the midst of the disaster that hit South Aceh.
“It is very unfortunate for the attitude and leadership of the person concerned. Therefore, the Gerindra DPP decided to dismiss the person concerned as Chair of the South Aceh Gerindra DPC,” said Sugiono, Friday (5/12).
