Civil War in
Sudan
has become the worst genocide after the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
Humanitarian groups and activists say signs of ethnic cleansing and humanitarian disaster have become increasingly visible in recent times.
On October 26, the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of El Fasher City, the capital of the North Darfur region, after besieging the area for around 18 months.

El Fasher is home to around 900,000 Sudanese. The majority of people have now fled as a result of the RSF invasion.
According to the Sudan Doctors Network, during the siege, around 14,000 Sudanese died as a result of bombing, starvation and arbitrary killings.
Reports of mass killings of non-Arab Sudanese are also increasingly intense, with Human Rights Watch (HRW) noting that Massalit and non-Arab people in Darfur are the targets of RSF killings.
Various posts on social media also showed how RSF soldiers brutally attacked Sudanese residents and buried them in mass graves.
The Yale Humanitarian Research Lab recently released satellite images of El Fasher City after the RSF captured the city.Satellite images show human bodies lying around with red around them, which is thought to be blood.
Sudan Doctors Network meanwhile also reported that RSF soldiers had executed anyone inside the hospital during the siege.According to World Health Organization (WHO) records, as many as 460 people were killed in Saudi Maternity Hospitals.
The Associated Press (AP) also made a similar report, namely that dozens of people were killed by the RSF in a hospital.
Reporting from ABC Net, the Sudanese conflict has killed 150,000 people due to fighting, hunger and disease.Around 21 million people are also hit by acute food insecurity, with 375,000 of them on the brink of famine.
In March 2024, UNICEF released a horrific report stating that armed forces in Sudan were committing rape and sexual violence against children as young as one year old.A number of children end up trying to commit suicide due to the severe trauma they experience.
“No one knows for sure what happened there. But what we do know is that this is nothing less than a crime against humanity and could well amount to genocide,” said Bakry Elmedni, a Sudan analyst and Associate Professor at Long Island University Brooklyn.
“I really feel that we need a new language to describe this (brutality),” he continued.
On 15 April 2023, the RSF engaged in war with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the capital Khartoum. The two sides exchanged fire until finally the capital was occupied by the RSF.
The conflict between the RSF and SAF itself occurred after the two worked together to overthrow Abdalla Hamdok’s government in 2021. After the overthrow, the SAF asked that the RSF be fully integrated into the ranks and command structure of the military.
However, RSF refused because they wanted to be leaders. The two allies have been fighting for power to this day.
