Fadli claims that Suharto fulfills a number of requirements to become a national hero based on the assessment of a number of parties included in the board of titles and honors.

“There are all kinds of people in it, there are historians, there are religious figures, there are academics, there are activists, yes, then, uh, the Ministry of Social Affairs brought them to us,” he said.
Fadli said that Suharto played a big role for the Indonesian nation.One of them is in the development aspect.
According to him, the New Order leader also played a role in facing Dutch military aggression on March 1 1949 as well as the operation to liberate West Irian or Trikora.
The Gerindra Party politician responded to the rejection of giving the title of national hero to Suharto which was voiced by various elements of civil society.
“I think it’s input, yes, input. But we can see his extraordinary services,” he said.
Marsinah also meets the requirements
Furthermore, Fadli Zon said that activist and watch factory worker, Marsinah, also met the requirements for the title of national hero.
“Fulfills the requirements,” said Fadli.
Fadli said that Marsinah, who was a labor figure in the era of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto, played an important role in the labor struggle.
He said Marsinah was an inspiration for the struggle for welfare and workers’ rights.
Suharto and Marsinah were among the 40 names proposed by the Ministry of Social Affairs to receive the title of national hero.
Palace Spokesperson and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto was studying the names that had been proposed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“The names of our heroes have been officially received from the Ministry of Social Affairs as a result of the Titles and Merits Council. The President is currently studying them because quite a lot of names have been submitted,” he said.
This proposal caused controversy among the community.One of them was from the Justice Soeharto Civil Society Movement (GEMAS) which stated that the proposal was a disappointing step.
Meanwhile, Marsinah was an activist and watch factory worker in the New Order era.He worked as a laborer in Sidoarjo, then was kidnapped and killed on May 8 1993 after being missing for three days.
Marsinah’s body was found in the forest with signs of severe torture.This case later became a record of the International Labor Organization (ILO), known as case 1773.
His name was first proposed as a national hero on Labor Day, May 1 2025.At that time, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto supported the proposal to make Marsinah a national hero.
“I will support Marsinah to become a national hero,” said Prabowo.
