Ma’ruf Amin, Siti Haniatunnisa, denied that her parents had given their blessing to the appointment of Zulfa Mustofa as Acting General Chair of PBNU to replace Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya.
Nisa said that her father’s blessing towards Zulfa was just a claim.Ma’ruf Amin’s family, called Nisa, objected to this claim.
“We, the extended family, are somewhat disturbed by the news circulating regarding the claim of brother Zulfa Mustofa who uses the blessing of our parents, KH. Ma’ruf Amin, as legitimacy to become the Acting General Chair of PBNU.”

“We confirm that our parents are very wise figures, really love NU, and obey the guidance of the older kyai in NU. So, we have to confirm that brother Zulfa Mustofa’s claim is not true,” Nisa added in her statement, Wednesday (10/12).
Nisa said her father consistently followed the directions of NU elders based on the results of the NU Mustasyar Deliberation Forum at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, on December 6.
There were four decisions made in the forum.First, the elders are of the view that the process of impeaching the General Chairperson is not in accordance with the provisions of the AD/ART.Second, the forum also saw serious errors in decision making by the General Chair, which needed to be clarified through a comprehensive organizational mechanism.
Third, the forum recommends that the Plenary Meeting to determine the PJ not be held before all procedures and deliberations have been completed in accordance with organizational regulations.
Fourth, the Nahdlatul Ulama Elders and Musytasar Forum invites all parties to exercise restraint, maintain organizational order, and avoid steps that have the potential to increase tensions.
“Our parents are not in a position to approve or support the disputing parties,” said Nisa.
Zulfa Mustofa previously admitted that he had asked for the blessing of his uncle, the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin, after his appointment as Acting General Chair of the PBNU Tanfidziyah through the PBNU Syuriah Plenary meeting, Tuesday (9/12) evening.
“I am Kiai Haji Ma’ruf Amin’s nephew, and I have asked for his blessing. And hopefully, God willing, everyone’s blessing will make this journey easier,” said Zulfa in his opening remarks.
Zulfa’s blood relationship with Ma’ruf is connected through her mother, Nyai Haji Marhumah Latifah, who is the daughter of Nyai Hajjah Maimunah who is also Ma’ruf Amin’s mother.
