The family of Reno Syahputra Dewo (24), a demonstrator who was found dead with only a skeleton left in the area

, Central Jakarta, admitted that he did not know for sure whether Reno would take part in the demonstration at the end of August 2025.
The victim’s uncle, Jemmy Yunianto (44) said that the family only found out that Reno had not come home two days after the last news his nephew received in East Jakarta.At that time, Reno was said to be near the demonstration location, but it is not yet known whether he took part in the action or just watched.
“I found out that night that my niece said that Reno was in the area, the language was taking part in the demonstration. I don’t know whether it was joining or watching, I don’t understand either. Well, the next day she didn’t come home, the next day she didn’t come home. Reported after two 24 hours, my nephew reported it,” said Jemmy, met at the funeral home in the North Malang Village area, Tegalsari, Surabaya, Saturday (8/11) evening WIB.

According to Jemmy, Reno was reported missing after he disappeared twice within 24 hours.The report was made by the family at the Jatinegara or Central Jakarta Police.Meanwhile, Reno’s family in Surabaya did not know the initial details.
“The missing report was at the Jatinegara Police, if I’m not mistaken. Because for the first report we didn’t know who was in Surabaya. I was in Surabaya,” he said.
Reno is known to have worked in Jakarta for three years, specifically at AHM Cikarang, and lives with one of his uncle’s nephews in the East Jakarta area.”I’ve been migrating since 2022 in Jakarta with my nephew too,” he said.
During his lifetime, Jemmy described Reno as someone who didn’t socialize much and rarely left the house.Because of this, he doubts that his nephew took part directly in the action at the end of last August.
“Reno is actually a lazy person. He doesn’t really want to be invited anywhere. But I don’t know why during the demonstration, maybe he felt interested. Because he’s never seen a big demonstration in Surabaya,” said Jemmy.
The last contact between Reno and his family occurred on August 29 2025, when Reno asked his father, Muhammad Yasin, for IDR 50 thousand for food.
Reno’s younger brother, Abraham, also said that in the video call communication, his older brother told him about the demonstration in Jakarta.After that, communication was lost until finally the family received news of the discovery of a skeletal body in Kwitang.
“At first it was from social media or television. His father was contacted for a DNA test there. At that time we weren’t sure if it was Reno because we hadn’t done a DNA test,” said Jemmy.
About a week ago, the family was summoned to Jakarta to undergo a DNA test and have now received the results which state that the victim’s identity matches Reno.
Now, Reno’s body has arrived at the funeral home and is greeted by the family’s sobs.It is planned that the eldest of two siblings will be buried at Putat Gede TPU, Surabaya.”The plan is to be buried tomorrow at 10.00 WIB. Please pray for my nephew to be husnul khotimah,” said Jemmy.
