The Indonesian Film Festival Committee answered a number of questions that arose after the nominations for the event

According to the Head of the 2025 FFI Judging Division, Budi Irawanto, all jury decisions to determine the nominees for the 2025 Citra Cup have gone through in-depth discussions.
“In terms of story, there is no fundamental difference between live action and animation,” said Budi in a media conference session at the Ministry of Education and Culture in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/11).”Of course, producers can have different opinions, that’s for sure, and we can have long debates.”
“However, the jury, after looking at elements such as story, direction, music and rhythm, based on our discussions with INAKI and the producer association, thought that this could be justified and accommodated.”
“Animation has the opportunity to explore imagination in almost unlimited ways, while live action films tend to be close to realism and reality,” explained Budi.
“However, in terms of story and directing, both have similarities. Films, both live action and animation, are driven by a director’s vision, namely the artistic vision and ideas that orchestrate all elements. The director’s role in animation and live action is equally important,” he answered.
The complete list of nominations for the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) Citra Cup was announced on Sunday (19/10).
In this announcement, the films Pengepungan Di Bukit Duri by Joko Anwar and The Shadow Strays by Timo Tjahjanto were the films with the most nominations, namely 12 nominations.

Siege on Bukit Duri received a nomination for Best Feature Film along with Jumbo, Pangku, War City, and Sore: Wife from the Future.Apart from that, this film received a Best Director nomination for Joko Anwar who also competed with Timo Tjahjanto.
Afternoon: Wife from the Future followed with eight nominations, including for Best Feature Film and Best Director for Yandy Laurens who also earned a nomination for Best Adapted Screenwriter.
The highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time, Jumbo, received seven nominations for the 2025 Citra Cup, including Best Feature Film and Best Director for Ryan Adriandhy.Jumbo’s nomination competed with Pangku by Reza Rahadian and Gowok Kamasutra Jawa by Hanung Bramantyo.
The peak night for the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) Citra Cup awarding will be held on November 20 2025.
