FIFA officially announced the list of lottery pots or group division drawings

In its latest release on Wednesday (26/11) early morning WIB, FIFA has determined the procedures for the 2026 World Cup final draw. This draw will be held on 5 December 2025.
The day after the draw at the John F. Kennedy Center, Washington DC, December 6, FIFA confirmed all locations and times

“With less than 200 days remaining until the start of the first 48-team World Cup, the procedure for determining the composition of 12 groups consisting of four teams has been confirmed,” wrote FIFA.
In the final drawing procedure, it was determined that hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States would be in Pot 1, the rest would be adjusted according to the latest FIFA rankings.
Excluding the three hosts, the other 39 who have qualified for the 2026 World Cup will be placed in four pots, each pot containing 12 teams.
The teams or countries that are still undergoing the play-off round will be placed in Por 4. The play-off round will compete for the remaining six tickets.
In detail, four tickets are for teams from the European zone and the other two are between confederations.The play-off round will take place in March next year.
Some of the established drawing procedures are that all teams from pot 1 are drawn into Groups A to L. Then it will continue with pots 2, 3 and 4 in sequence.
To ensure the competitive balance of each group, two separate paths to the semifinals have been established when compiling the match charts.
The four highest ranked teams will be randomly drawn to opposite lanes.The same principle will apply to the third and fourth highest ranked teams.
This is to ensure that, if teams with high FIFA rankings become group winners, these teams will not meet before the final.
