The Singapore national team has just confirmed their ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup after winning Group C in the third phase of qualifying by beating Hong Kong, Bangladesh and India.
The success of The Lions’ senior team is motivation for the young team that will compete in the Southeast Asian Games in December 2025.

Singapore is one of the competitors for the U-23 Indonesian National Team in the group phase of the 2025 SEA Games. Singapore will also face the Garuda Muda squad in the first match on December 5.
The Singapore squad stated that they were concentrating on facing the match against Indonesia which is less than two weeks away.
“There are many possibilities that we have to worry about [in the group phase], so the most important thing for us is to appear in the first match, be focused and give all our attention,” said coach Firdaus Kassim quoted from

“Hopefully a good performance will result in good results and we will continue the game from there,” he added.
Singapore U-23 captain, Amir Syafiz, who has experience playing for the senior national team in the Asian Cup qualifiers, hopes to repeat the sweet story at this year’s SEA Games.
“I am grateful to be able to participate in the team in the qualifiers. I think it is motivation for players like me and those who train with the team. It gives motivation to perform well at the SEA Games,” said Syafiz.
“The results of the senior team are good motivation for us. We want Singapore football to progress rapidly. So maybe this [SEA Games] is one way we can perform well and make Singapore proud,” he continued.
