The ship captained by Yakob departed from Tulehu Harbor, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, heading for fishing locations in Banda waters on Saturday (8/11) at around 02:00 WIT.
The ship was then reported to have caught fire on Thursday (20/11) after the ship owner named Iwan received a report from the crew that the ship they were on was temporarily on fire at around 17:50 WIT.
Head of Basarnas Ambon Muhammad Arafah said that his party was currently still looking for all the crew members who were still missing. He said that the search on the first day Friday (21/11) had not yielded results due to bad weather and high waves still occurring in Banda waters.
Basarnas then deployed KN Bharata to the fishing location at coordinates 4°33’52.20″S – 128°48’33.55″E, distance ± 75 NM and heading 146.1° southeast.
However, during the voyage the wave conditions were still high in Banda waters.Arafah hopes that on the second day of the search, Saturday (22/11), all crew members will be found safely.
“We deployed a KN SAR Bharata unit to the location of the incident this afternoon. However, due to the bad weather, the search for victims was temporarily stopped and will continue tomorrow morning,” he said in a written statement, Saturday (22/1).
Arafah said that his party only deployed personnel after coordinating with the ship.Initially, they coordinated with the Banda SAR post regarding the ship fire, but they had not received official information regarding the KM Makmur 03 burning.
They, he said, also had time to coordinate with maritime authorities such as Polairud and TNI-AL to confirm the truth of the ship fire in the middle of the sea at around 15:30 WIT.
Meanwhile, the ship’s management as the person responsible for the Maluku Prima Makmur 03 fishing vessel said that up to now not a single crew member has been found.
