Flash flood
hit Maninjau again, Tanjung Raya District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Thursday (25/12).
Heavy rain caused the Batang Aia Pisang River to overflow, submerging roads and residential areas.

Tanjung Raya Subdistrict Head Al Hafid said dozens of houses were flooded with water and rocky mud in Jorong Pasar, Nagari Maninjau, Tanjung Raya District.

He said flash floods also damaged houses along the Batang Aia Pisang River.
However, the total number is not yet available, because the sub-district and nagari governments are still collecting data on the impact of the flash flood.
“There were no casualties and data is being collected on damaged houses,” he said.
Currently, he added, rainfall is still high.Under these conditions, he appealed to residents to always increase their awareness of subsequent floods.
Previously, flash floods also hit the area after a landslide upstream of the river at Kelok 28 caused the river to become shallow.
For this reason, the local government has deployed heavy equipment to normalize the river.
