Receiving the report, Humbahas Police personnel together with a joint team from the Humbang Hasundutan Regency Government, BPBD, TNI and SAR volunteers immediately moved to the location.
“Once there, officers searched the affected area, helped evacuate residents, evacuated victims, and secured points that had the potential for subsequent flooding. Officers also tried to open access to roads that were buried in mud material,” he explained.
He added that as a result of this incident, initially 11 people were reported missing.Eight residents’ houses were damaged and some were carried away by soil material, while one car was swept away by the flood currents.
“There were 11 victims, after a search was carried out, 6 people were found, 2 of them died, 4 others were seriously injured. So currently 5 more residents are still being searched for,” said Police Commissioner Manson.

“The search for the 5 residents who have not been found cannot be carried out optimally because conditions in the field are not yet possible. We remain alert and will continue the search as soon as the situation allows,” he added.

“We urge people who live in areas prone to landslides and floods to increase their vigilance, evacuate immediately if they see signs of danger, and follow directions from officers in the field,” he said.
