The city of Sibolga was the area with the greatest impact, with six landslides that resulted in five residents dying, three injured, and four people still being searched for, and destroying 17 houses.
“Furthermore, in Nias, landslides also blocked access to the main road in Hiligodu Village, Gunungsitoli. Since the first report came in, the National Police immediately moved quickly to evacuate residents, as well as securing and regulating traffic at a number of affected points,” he said.
However, efforts to search for the six people who have not been found continue to be carried out together with BPBD, Basarnas, TNI and volunteer elements. As reinforcement, the Sipirok Company and Siantar Company Mobile Brigade Unit have been deployed to various locations to assist with evacuation, search and opening road access.

“Then at 14.15 WIB, one SST Company 2 Yon B Por moved towards Sibolga but the journey was delayed because it was helping evacuate a traffic accident at Simpang Marjarunjung so the travel time was estimated at six hours,” he explained.
He added that the North Sumatra Regional Police also deployed additional support in the form of one SST Samapta, two Dokkes Teams, and one Information Technology Sector Team (Bid TI) to strengthen evacuation, health, communication and data collection services in Central Tapanuli.
“This disaster was triggered by the high intensity of rain in the last few days. A number of areas are still recording flood levels of up to 1 meter, while the weather at night still shows the potential for heavy rain which risks triggering further disasters. The National Police urges the public to remain alert and stay away from areas prone to landslides or flood flows,” he said.
