Flooding occurred because heavy rain caused the river or Tukad Betel to overflow.

Chief Executive (Kalaksa) BPBD Karangasem Ida Bagus Ketut Arimbawa said the flood incident occurred at 13.30 WITA.Those affected by the flood were a number of villages in Manggis District, such as Gegelang Village, Antiga, and Antiga Kelod.
“The results of the assessment are currently no fatalities,” said Arimbawa, in the early hours of Friday (12/12).
The flood incident, according to the Pusdalops BPBD Karangasem report, was due to overflowing river water or Tukad Betel overflowing due to high intensity rain.
The rain occurred from morning until noon and resulted in many residents’ houses being flooded or submerged in water at several points.

Some of them in Banjar Dinas Pangitebel, Antiga Kelod Village, there were 18 heads of families (KK) who were affected by water entering their houses.
In Tengading Hamlet there were 17 families affected and it has now receded.Then in Abian Canang Hamlet, Ulakan Village, 1 house was affected by the landslide and has been evacuated.
A landslide that hit 1 house also occurred in Telengan Hamlet, Gegelang Village, but residents did not evacuate.
“There were 1 family who fled to safer places or their relatives’ houses, namely 3 people. Because their house was affected by a landslide in Ulakan Village, Manggis District,” said Arimbawa.
Apart from that, on Thursday afternoon, the impact of the Karangasem floods caused traffic towards Denpasar to experience total traffic jams for 1 hour, and the next two hours gradually returned to normal.
This national road was flooded, precisely in Pangitebel, due to the overflow of the Bethel River.
Arimbawa said the floodwaters have now receded.Officers, he said, carried out the handling at 17.00 WITA until finished at 20.00 WITA, last Thursday night.
