Floods surround Karawang, West Java, thousands of houses are submerged

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Karawang Regency, West Java said that thousands of residents were affected by the disaster

A total of 12 villages and three sub-districts that were hit by flooding during the last few days were Karangligar Village and Parungsari Village, West Telukjambe District.Then Sukaharja Village, Sukamakmur Village and Purwadana Village, East Telukjambe District.
Furthermore, Sukakerta Village, Cilamaya Wetan District, Sukajaya Village, Cilamaya Kulon District and Tambaksari Village, Tirtajaya District, North Pusakajaya Village and Mekarpohaci Village, Cilebar District, and also hit Ciparagejaya Village and Sumberjaya Village, Tempuran District.
The three sub-districts that were hit by flooding were Nagasari Subdistrict, Tanjung Mekar Subdistrict and Karawang Kulon Subdistrict, West Karawang District.
Usep said that the causes of the floods that hit 12 villages and three sub-districts were different.There were tidal floods in the northern coastal area of Karawang as a result of the overflowing of the Citarum and Cibeet rivers.
“In several areas, as of Monday, the flood conditions have begun to decrease, except in Karangligar and Parungsari villages, the floods are still hitting, we even set up a public kitchen in Karangligar Village,” he said.
Flooding was quite severe in Karangligar Village, because the water level reached 1 meter.
