He realized that his former boss had entered the vortex of rumors about a potential Indonesian national team coach when he read the news.
“Now he is at Liverpool [as an assistant coach]. I still don’t know now [further news] and whether he wants to continue working at Liverpool or wherever,” said Van Gastel in a press conference ahead of the match against Persija Jakarta at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Thursday (27/11).
Van Gastel admitted that he understood that Van Bronckhorst would finally become the coach of the Indonesian National Team.It is said that the Moluccan background could be the reason why the tactician moved closer to the land of his ancestors.
“On social media there are a lot of rumors and names being mentioned. I don’t know which one is true. But considering his background from Maluku, I’m sure he could do it,” said Van Gastel.
Currently, the candidate for the Indonesian National Team coach is still a question mark.PSSI stated that there were five candidates on the radar.Two members of the Executive Committee (Exco) representing the federation are leaving for Europe to meet with the names of strong candidates.
PSSI Exco member Sumardji said he was leaving for Europe on Wednesday (26/11) evening to carry out a mission to find a new coach for the Indonesian National Team.However, he could not be more open about the names involved.
“Just wait this week, there will definitely be results regardless of who will deliver them. What is certain is that it won’t be long, there will definitely be results,” said Sumardji when met on Wednesday (26/11) afternoon.
Sumardji also explained that the PSSI exco was working with the PSSI Technical Director, Alexander Zwiers, to go interview prospective Indonesian National Team coaches.
“Tonight [Wednesday (26/11)] there are several Exco friends who will be leaving first. There are two people who will go there first. And Dirtek Alexander also left yesterday [Tuesday (25/11)]. So later we will go there. Later we will meet together in Europe and according to the existing schedule, in these weeks we will be able to immediately conduct interviews,” said Sumardji.
