The reason is that he revealed that at the top of the hill, the lack of large trees on slopes as high as around 80 meters is the main factor in the land being easily eroded by water. He said that based on the information he received, the land was often used for plantations.
“Yes, the information is that there is planting, there is enthusiasm for planting, but you must also pay attention to the slope of the land. Vegetables are still allowed below 30 degrees, but anything more than that is not ideal,” said Dadang, when inspecting the landslide location, Saturday (6/12).
He explained that without strong vegetation binding the soil, the risk of erosion is very large, especially during high rainfall. Therefore, he asked the Bandung Regency Government to strengthen the reforestation program in disaster-prone areas.
“Reforestation must not stop. Deforestation, logging, and even planting potatoes in steep forests must be controlled,” he stressed.
He also suggested that plantation crops be replaced with commodities with strong roots such as avocados to maintain soil stability.
He emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness so that they do not use forest areas arbitrarily.
“The public must be aware, don’t just enter forest land, don’t throw rubbish carelessly. This disaster is clearly caused by human activity, both on land and at sea,” he said.
With these preventive measures, he hopes that similar incidents can be minimized in the future.Cross-sector collaboration is considered important for effective disaster management.
As a result of this landslide, five houses and rice fields belonging to residents were buried in soil material.Four people were victims of this incident. One person was successfully evacuated, while three other residents were still being searched as of Saturday afternoon at 16.55 WIB.
