pertalite
at a number of points in the City
Medan
, North Sumatra is thinning out amid the floods that hit the region.
This condition triggers long queues at gas stations and makes it difficult for residents to carry out their activities, especially those who rely on vehicles for daily mobility.
On Friday (28/11), monitoring in the field showed that several gas stations no longer provided pertalite.

For example, Jalan Cemara gas station, Jalan Delitua gas station and Jalan Merak Jingga gas station were observed to be empty. At the Jalan HM Yamin gas station, stocks of Pertalite and Pertamax are both unavailable.
“Since last night it’s been difficult to find Pertalite. Never mind Pertalite, it’s even difficult to find Pertamax at the HM Yamin gas station. I went around and the average gas station was empty of fuel. Finally I was forced to buy retail on the side of the road. The price was sold at IDR 15 thousand per liter for Pertalite,” said Dina, a Medan resident.
Similar vacancies occurred at Jalan Simpang Selayang gas station, Jalan Sisingamangaraja gas station, Jalan Medan Tembung gas station and Medan Perjuangan gas station. This condition makes some residents switch to retail sellers even though they have to pay more.
“In the Medan Perjuangan area, Medan Tembung, all gas stations are empty of fuel. The queue for buying retail petrol is like queuing for social assistance. The price has also increased to IDR 15 thousand per liter,” said Yudi, a resident of Medan City.
Meanwhile, gas stations that still sell Pertalite and Pertamax have become vehicle accumulation points.Long queues were seen at the Jalan Ringroad gas station, Jalan Adam Malik gas station, Jalan Polonia gas station and Jalan KL Yos Sudarso gas station.
“The queues take a long time to the side of the road. Even then, I don’t know whether the vehicles queuing still have fuel or not. It’s already flooded everywhere, it’s difficult to find petrol. If this is the case, it’s better to just stay at home first,” said Rezki.
Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, explained that the shortage of fuel occurred because two ships carrying pertalite and biodiesel were stuck in Belawan waters since November 23 2025 due to bad weather.
“However, improving weather conditions are starting to have a positive impact on the recovery process. The previously high sea waves have now subsided so that ships carrying fuel can dock at the Medan Group Fuel Terminal. Since today, the process of recovery and normalization of fuel distribution has been carried out again to the affected gas stations in stages,” he said.
Apart from being hampered by sea supplies, land distribution routes to areas affected by floods and landslides are also experiencing disruption.Based on operational reports as of November 27 2025 at 21.00 WIB, 23 of the 406 gas stations in North Sumatra were affected by the disaster.
“BBM stock at distribution agencies was recorded at 4,489 KL Gasoline and 1,910 KL Gasoil. In LPG distribution, 15 agents and 5 SPBEs were also affected, especially due to damage to logistics route access at several points, including the Pangkalan Susu – Brandan route,” he said.
Pertamina continues to strengthen emergency management measures to maintain smooth energy distribution in the North Sumatra region, which is currently still in a state of disaster due to extreme rain, strong winds and landslides in a number of areas.
“We ensure that supplies continue to move and urge the public to remain calm and buy fuel according to their needs,” he said.
For LPG, the main challenge is still land access to the damaged Pangkalan Susu area.As a mitigation measure, Pertamina is carrying out Regular Alternative Supply (RAE) from IT Dumai to support LPG supply to a number of SPPBEs whose access is hampered.
“To this day, several SPPBEs are recorded as still being able to distribute LPG to agents, so that people’s needs are still served. Pertamina emphasizes that people do not need to worry about the availability of LPG for cooking needs at home,” he explained.
He added that acceleration steps were taken through the addition of tank cars from Dumai, the use of skid tanks, the use of AE Supplies, as well as the assignment of tank car crews from outside the region to speed up
recovery
distribution.
“Pertamina is also preparing supporting equipment such as Starlink and generators at certain operational points to maintain smooth coordination in the field. Our team is moving to adjust supply patterns, transfer supplies between terminals, and optimize the fleet to ensure people’s energy needs are still met,” said Fahrougi.
