In a session discussing sustainable economics, trade and development financing, Gibran emphasized that Indonesia continues to encourage financial inclusion through the use of digital technology.

QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard), he said, has become an example of how cheap and practical digital solutions can expand economic participation.
“Our national digital payment system, QRIS, shows how simple and low-cost digital solutions can encourage economic participation and reduce inequality,” he said, as reported by Antara.
Gibran also welcomed the G20’s focus on sustainable financing, but assessed that this ambition needed to be increased to close the funding gap, especially for developing countries.
He emphasized the need for access to financing that is more affordable, fair and predictable through various mechanisms, such as debt relief, funding innovation, blended finance, and green transition schemes.
Indonesia, he continued, has allocated more than half of the national climate budget, around US$2.5 billion per year, equivalent to IDR 41.75 trillion, to support green MSMEs, agricultural insurance and the development of infrastructure that is resilient to climate change.
Apart from that, Gibran touched on the development of new technology, including crypto assets and digital tokens such as Bitcoin, which he said brought both opportunities and risks.
For this reason, Indonesia proposes that the G20 start a dialogue on economic intelligence to strengthen shared understanding of the dynamics of the global digital economy.
With this encouragement, Indonesia hopes that the G20 can play a stronger role in creating a financial system that is inclusive, sustainable and adaptive to future challenges.
