, Gibran landed at O.R. International Airport.Tambo, Johannesburg, on Friday (21/11) at around 15.15 local time.He took an almost 11 hour flight from Halim Perdanakusumah Airport, Jakarta.

As soon as he got off the plane’s stairs, Gibran was greeted by the Minister of Electricity and Energy of South Africa Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa Saud Purwanto Krisnawan, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché in Pretoria Colonel (Mar) Guntur Almasyih.
Gibran then passed through a row of honors before watching the Pantsula dance performance by three young men dressed in red checkered shirts and yellow hats.
After the welcome, the group continued their journey to the Saxon Hotel Johannesburg to begin a series of work agendas.A warm atmosphere greeted Gibran when he arrived at the hotel, with dozens of Indonesian diaspora singing the song Rayuan Pulau Kelapa.
You can feel the feeling of emotion when the song is sung.Two Indonesian children dressed in traditional clothing also handed over a bouquet of King Protea, South Africa’s national flower, to Gibran.After taking a group photo, Gibran greeted the diaspora one by one and expressed his gratitude.
“Thank you, thank you,” said Gibran while greeting a number of Indonesian citizens.
Gibran is scheduled to deliver a speech representing President Prabowo at the G20 Summit which will be held at the Johannesburg Expo Center on 22-23 November 2025. He will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of friendly countries to convey messages from Prabowo.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained why Gibran was present to represent the president.According to him, the agenda for the G20 Summit coincides with a number of important activities of President Prabowo in Indonesia.
“The schedule for the G20 Summit in South Africa coincides with several of the President’s agendas, so the President will be represented by the Vice President at the G20,” said Teddy, Friday (21/11).
The government also sent Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk F. Paulus as a special presidential envoy to meet directly with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.During the meeting, Lodewijk handed over a letter from Prabowo regarding his absence at the summit.
