“This is our brothers in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Aceh. There is a flood disaster. The government will send aid. The first is rice aid, North Sumatra 16 thousand tonnes, then 3,000 tonnes of cooking oil. West Sumatra, we will send 6,700 tonnes of rice, 1,300 tonnes of cooking oil,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture, South Jakarta, Friday (28/11).
Details in the Bapanas document show Aceh received 10,613,640 kg of rice and 2,122,728 liters of cooking oil.North Sumatra received 16,893,920 kg of rice and 3,378,784 liters of cooking oil, while West Sumatra received 6,794,960 kg of rice and 1,358,992 liters of cooking oil.
“God willing, when I have recovered somewhat, we will immediately go to the field, check directly,” he said further.
This assistance was prepared through a Bulog assignment in the form of a package of 20 kilograms of rice and four liters of cooking oil per family.Bapanas opens up opportunities for additional distribution if there is an official request from the provincial government whose areas are more heavily affected.
The three provinces have been in a state of emergency due to widespread flooding and landslides since the end of November.In North Sumatra, emergency response status was implemented for 14 days after more than ten districts and cities were affected by the disaster.
The regional government recorded fatalities and thousands of evacuees, while police reports showed a larger number of dead and missing as well as damage that left a number of isolated areas, including Central Tapanuli and North Tapanuli, where road access, electricity and communications were cut off.
Aceh is also in an emergency response period for 14 days after floods and landslides hit 16 districts and cities.More than 119 thousand people were affected, more than 20 thousand residents were displaced, and deaths and disappearances are still being reported.
In West Sumatra, flash floods and landslides hit several areas such as Solok City and Agam Regency, with hundreds of families displaced and the SAR team continuing to find dead victims.
