Apart from focusing on treating victims, the government also carries out weather modification operations. This is done to reduce rainfall and anticipate subsequent disasters.
“We are also carrying out weather modification operations. It has started to be flown to reduce rainfall on land, so that later we carry the rainfall into the ocean. Efforts like this are also being carried out (apart from treating victims),” said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.
Pratikno said Tropical Cyclone Senyar as the cause of the disaster had begun to subside.
Even so, he asked residents to remain alert because there is still Tropical Cyclone Koto which could also potentially trigger extreme weather in the Aceh and North Sumatra regions.
“We are anticipating it because there is Cyclone Koto, but it is in the north. We are still alert, we hope it will not enter mainland Indonesia,” said Pratikno.
