Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman said that the feed factory would be built for the first time in 12 regions in Indonesia.
“The first is 12 regions, 12 feed factory points, then the second stage is 18 points. The budget is IDR 20 trillion,” said Amran at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday (20/11).

Amran said that the feed factory was built for small farmers in Indonesia.This step is a form of government support for small-scale farmers, whose number reaches 3.7 million.
“We want to produce DOC (
day old chick
) for the people so that feed prices, vaccine prices will be stable, medicines will be stable for breeders throughout Indonesia.”We have 3.7 million livestock breeders, we have to look after them,” he said.
Apart from that, Amran said the government would also apply the Highest Cost of Goods Sold and Retail Price for animal feed.
“So prices don’t fluctuate much. So, we will build this,” he said.
Amran previously revealed that the government was preparing a large program to develop broiler and egg-laying chicken farms to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
This step is to strengthen food security as well as stimulate the village economy.
Amran said that the recent increase in chicken prices was actually a positive signal of resuming economic activity in the region.
He assessed that the increase was not due to supply fluctuations, but rather due to increased demand triggered by the implementation of the MBG program.
From Amran’s explanation, this chicken farming development program will be driven through two large ecosystems, namely laying hens and broiler chickens.
For laying hens, state-owned food company will provide them
grand parent stock (GPS), parent stock (PS),
feed, vaccines, medicine, to logistics and marketing.
Production of young chickens (pullets) is targeted to reach 60.27 million heads which will then be managed by breeders through the Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperative (Kopdes).
From there, around 54.79 million laying hens were produced with a production capacity of 1 million tons of eggs per year, of which 0.7 million tons were prepared for MBG needs for 82.9 million beneficiaries.
A similar model will also be applied to broiler chickens.
In this case, the food BUMN will prepare GPS, PS, FS, feed, veterinary medicine, RPHU and meat processing facilities, as well as cold storage, logistics and marketing systems.
The government targets production of commercial chickens to reach 1.23 billion heads with a capacity of 1.5 million tons of meat per year, of which 1.1 million tons will be absorbed for the needs of the MBG program.
