Government Will Form 150 Territorial Development Battalions Every Year

Republic of Indonesia Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said he would form 150
territorial battalion
development every year.
He conveyed this in a press conference after a closed meeting with Commission I DPR RI at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Monday (24/11).
“Currently, in 2025, we already have 150 battalions of the Indonesian National Army which we call Development Territorial Infantry Battalions. And we will continue to increase this every year to a number of 150 battalions per year,” said Sjafrie.

According to Sjafrie, this number is not merely a territorial ambition, but rather an effort to safeguard national interests.
“This is of course not intended for territorial ambitions, but solely to maintain territorial integrity and security and save national interests, as well as safeguarding strategic industries that are related to state sovereignty,” he added.
He also said that the formation of 150 battalions per year received a positive response from Commission I DPR RI in the closed meeting.
“This received a positive response from ladies and gentlemen members of Commission I of the DPR,” he said.
He also did not forget to invite the people’s representatives to continue to provide supervision over the Ministry of Defense and also the Indonesian National Army.
“However, we hope that the social control carried out by the people’s representatives in Commission I will remain intensive and provide constructive criticism to us at the Ministry of Defense and also in the National Army,” he said.
