“It’s very unfortunate that the ball was thrown and it means the players didn’t match what we practiced yesterday regarding which players guard who,” said Indra Sjafri.
Indra Sjafri’s comments then went viral and became a topic of conversation, including receiving attention from former Indonesian national team player Greg Nwokolo.
“With all due respect, Coach Indra, the game was played for 90 minutes and what is your reason for this? [It’s a shame the players didn’t follow what they did yesterday in the training session],” said Greg, quoted from his personal Instagram.
Greg admitted that he was confused by the Indonesian U-23 national team’s game against the Philippines, which seemed like they had never practiced.
“Yesterday, the national team that I watched were all confused as if they had never practiced. Other countries are also serious about improving their football, but in our country it’s just endless drama and circus. Everyone is back in the safe zone,” said Greg.
