removed from his position as Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (
PBNU
).
Gus Ipul’s removal was based on the decision of the Tanfidziyah Daily Meeting which was held Friday (28/11) at the PBNU office, Kramat Raya, Jakarta.The meeting was chaired by the General Chairperson of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf.

Gus Ipul’s removal was announced in a PBNU press release with Gus Yahya’s electronic signature today.
“H. Saifullah Yusuf from his original position as Secretary General of PBNU to the position of Chairman of PBNU,” said the decision of the tanfidziyah meeting, as written in the PBNU press release.
Chairman of PBNU Ulil Abshar Abdalla confirmed the press release.

Apart from removing Gus Ipul, the Tanfidziyah meeting also replaced several other administrators.
Meeting to replace KH.Masyhuri Malik went from Chairman of PBNU to Deputy General Chairman.Then Gudfan Arif was removed from the position of General Treasurer to become Chairman of PBNU, Amin Said Husni was appointed to fill the position of Secretary General replacing Gus Ipul.
Finally, Sumantri moved from his original position as Treasurer to the position as General Treasurer.
Management rotation is taken based on the results of performance evaluations in the Tanfidziyah Daily Executive Board functionaries, as well as taking into account the provisions in the Nahdlatul Ulama Bylaws Article 94 and Association Regulation Number 10 of 2025 Article 16-18, as well as the provisions in Association Regulation Number 13 of 2025 Article 1 letter d and Article 10.
“In accordance with applicable regulations, the General Chair will immediately report the decision of the Tanfidziyah Daily Meeting to Rais Aam of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board,” said a PBNU press statement.
There has been no statement from Gus Ipul regarding the results of the tanfidziyah meeting which fired him from the position of PBNU Secretary General.
