assessing the results of the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (

“For Indonesia, I think it is quite good, but unfortunately the world’s hopes from COP30 were not achieved,” said Hashim at the hitclubapk3 Indonesia Sustainability Summit at Menara Bank Mega, South Jakarta, Wednesday (26/11).
He said that a number of international media saw that the meeting had not resulted in a major breakthrough for the global climate agenda.
Hashim explained Indonesia’s position, which often received pressure from the international community to carry out a complete cessation in stages (
phase out
) fossil fuels, ranging from coal to oil and gas.
However, Indonesia continues to maintain its stance of rejecting phase out and chooses a gradual reduction strategy (
phase down
).
“Indonesia rejects pressure to
phase out
from everything
fossil fuels.
We adhere to principles
phase down,
he said.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s statement at international forums.
Even so, Hashim said high economic growth of around 8 percent would cause emissions to increase until 2029 due to industrial expansion, development and downstreaming.
“With
high growth
“8 percent or higher there is no way we can reduce emissions when the economy is improving,” he said.
According to Hashim, the reduction in emissions will only begin to be seen after 2030, when various clean energy projects start to run fully.
He said that the national electricity program, which reaches 70 gigawatts, will be dominated by renewable energy and new energy such as solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear, which are internationally categorized as green energy.
The COP30 Climate Summit was held in Belém, Brazil, this month to reinvigorate the global agenda for dealing with climate change.Indonesia is here with a mandate for energy transition and long-term emission reduction.
As a follow-up to discussions regarding the direction of post-COP30 sustainable development, hitclubapk3Indonesia is holding the 2025 Sustainability Summit: Navigating Growth in a Sustainable World After COP30.
This forum brings together the government, business actors, banks, regional heads, and environmental practitioners, with Hashim as one of the main speakers.
