Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN)
Dadan Hindayana
said there were hundreds of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (
SPPG
) aka the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchen lost contact due to impact
flood and landslide disasters
in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
Dadan said that in North Sumatra, 44 SPPG units were inactive after the disaster to date, while Aceh recorded around 180 units.
However, Dadan cannot confirm whether this SPPG was directly affected or was limited to the area experiencing signal problems so that communication was lost.

“We cannot yet identify whether it is because of signal interference or the SPPG is missing,” said Dadan at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta City, DIY, Tuesday (9/12).
Not only the SPPG unit, Dadan said there were also kitchen volunteers who were affected by this disaster. However, he has not yet recorded the numbers.
“Because it is widespread, and we may find out after the situation returns to normal and we enter the reconstruction period,” he said.
Dadan said, in the midst of the Sumatran disaster situation, there were still SPPGs that were active and had changed their function to become public kitchens for people affected by the disaster.A total of 319 units in three provinces were affected.
According to Dadan, this SPPG will continue to operate as a public kitchen to meet the nutritional needs of children, toddlers and pregnant women at evacuation points.
“Because we have sent enough money to each SPPG that serves refugees so that they can continue to carry out their programs. Moreover, as long as BNPB, TNI-Polri and the Ministry of Social Affairs ask us to get involved, we will continue to carry it out,” he said.
Meanwhile, for SPPGs that are not directly affected or are located quite far from the disaster location, said Dadan, they can operate and continue to distribute MBG as usual.
The re-implementation of MBG in disaster areas will also be carried out in stages, depending on the situation in each region.
“But in disaster areas, everything is allocated to handle refugees,” he said.
