Because of that, there was only a call for the age category team, Indonesia U-23.The team that will compete in the 2025 SEA Games will play Mali U-23 on November 15 and 18 in Bogor.
This is an anomaly.It rarely happens that FIFA member countries do not hold matches on the international calendar.This is because FIFA Matchday is a week that players are looking forward to.It’s time to defend the country.
The last time there was no Garuda Calling from PSSI for the Indonesian National Team was in June 2015 or a decade ago.This happened because at that time Indonesia was being exiled from the world.
At that time Indonesia was sanctioned by FIFA.PSSI’s membership status in Indonesia was frozen because it was deemed there was intervention from the government.FIFA’s sanctions fell on May 30 2015.
Since the sanctions came, Indonesian football has been embargoed from all international activities.The Indonesian national team was forced to hibernate for more than a year from the international world.
And, Garuda Calling can only be done again in September 2016. The first opponent that Indonesia faces after hibernation is Malaysia.It happened on September 6, 2016.
One of the effects of not holding a match on FIFA Matchday is a decline in position in the FIFA Ranking.Even though it will not decline sharply, Indonesia’s ranking will still fall again.
