“In general, almost all health facilities have recovered, although we cannot fully (operate) normally. But for standard services, basic services have been provided,” said Kunta when met at UGM, Sleman, DIY, Saturday (13/12) afternoon.
Kunta claims that several hospitals in the three affected provinces are able to accommodate light surgery or minor surgery services.
“We also had minor surgery at the hospital,” said Kunta.
Apart from the operation of health facilities, the Ministry of Health in this case also ensures the availability or supply of medical equipment and medicines to disaster locations.
“In general, health services have returned to normal, but not (not yet optimal), because of emergency conditions too,” he said.
Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that the government was working to restore health facilities affected by flash floods and landslides in three provinces of Sumatra – Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra – at the end of last November.
He said there were at least 41 hospitals and 343 community health centers in the three provinces that were being processed so they could operate again, especially community health centers which were health posts for refugee services.
“The most important first step is to immediately operate 41 hospitals and 343 health centers in these 3 provinces to serve affected or refugee communities, and the general public can immediately walk normally,” said Budi in a video recording uploaded to the Ministry of Health’s Instagram account, Thursday (11/12).
Some of the hospitals whose services are starting to gradually recover include the Aceh Tamiang and Langsa Regional Hospitals.
