Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.declared the state of emergency over
Typhoon Kalmaegi
causing hundreds of people to die, Thursday (6/11).
The announcement was made at a joint meeting with the National Disaster Risk Management and Reduction Council (NDRRMC).

Marcos said the national emergency status was implemented to speed up rescue efforts, distribution of aid and recovery, including to facilitate the disbursement of emergency funds and the logistics procurement process.
“Seeing the extent of the area affected by Typhoon Tino, as well as being hit by Typhoon Uwan, based on the NDRRMC’s proposal we declared a state of emergency,” said Marcos, as quoted

More than 1.9 million Filipinos were affected by Typhoon Kalmaegi or Tino.This country is also predicted to be hit by Typhoon Uwan which is expected to strengthen into a super typhoon on Saturday (8/11).
The death toll from Typhoon Kalmaegi has now reached 142 people.According to Marcos, 10 to 12 areas of the Philippines were affected by this typhoon.
According to EM-DAT disaster data, Typhoon Tino will be the deadliest typhoon in the world in 2025.
The Philippines is hit by about 20 typhoons and storms every year.In 2024, Tropical Storm Kristine or Trami, which has been named the third deadliest typhoon in the world, hit the Philippines, killing 191 people.
