said the region needed more than 300,000 emergency tents to accommodate the hundreds of thousands of families who are now homeless.
The statement came after the first winter storm of the season hit Gaza and swept away tens of thousands of tents previously used by refugees.
In an official statement via Telegram, the Gaza Government Media Office said around 288,000 Palestinian families were facing dire conditions amid extreme weather, especially due to the lack of temporary shelter in the region.

They accused Israel of not allowing assistance in the form of tents and other basic equipment that was urgently needed.
Gaza authorities stressed that winter conditions worsen the humanitarian situation. Many families are now forced to survive without heat, tent floors, or proper sanitation facilities after nearly two years of bombing that destroyed much of the residential infrastructure.
In its list of needs, the Gaza government mentions a number of urgent equipment, including safe heating devices for children, patients and the elderly, tent floors to prevent mud puddles, blankets and thermal insulation, portable toilets connected to water and waste disposal services, as well as lighting equipment and alternative energy sources.
The Gaza Government Media Office also accused Israel of not allowing the entry of these goods, thereby exacerbating the suffering of residents ahead of the peak of winter.
Until now there has been no official response from the Israeli authorities regarding these accusations or regarding handling humanitarian needs in Gaza.
However, international humanitarian agencies have previously repeatedly warned that the conditions for refugees in Gaza continue to worsen and require an immediate response.
