A man walked tens of kilometers to look for his wife and child in Tukka District,
Central Tapanuli Regency
(Tapteng), North Sumatra, went viral on social media.
Tired and confused, the man named Ebyn Hutauruk admitted that he had not heard from his family since flash floods and landslides hit the area in the last few days.

The video was uploaded by the Regent of Central Tapanuli, Masinton Pasaribu, on his social media account.
In the video, the man named Ebyn Hutauruk, who lives in Tarutung, accidentally meets Masinton Pasaribu while on his way to Tukka, where access is still cut off.
With bare feet and clothes full of mud, Ebyn walked day and night.He only carried a backpack and a plastic bundle.
When he met Masinton, he couldn’t help crying, asking for help to find out the condition of his family.
“We haven’t seen each other for two days. Where are they now, sir? Ouch,” said Ebyn while crying.

Masinton then asked the officers to record Ebyn’s identity and promised to help search for his family.He also appealed to officers in the field to coordinate so that the tracing process could be carried out immediately.
“Everyone doesn’t have their telephones, the electricity is off. Hopefully they’re healthy. We’ll coordinate there, we’ll help them later,” said Masinton.
Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, was hit by floods and landslides.This disaster hit all 20 sub-districts in the district.
Masinton recorded that 34 people had died and 33 others were still missing today.
A total power outage occurred throughout the Sibolga City area and Central Tapanuli Regency.Telecommunication and internet networks also experience blind spots in the same area which makes coordination and communication difficult.
